St. Louis Business Journal – August 1, 2007

Reliv International Inc.’s CEO, chairman and president, Robert Montgomery, said Wednesday that he is disappointed in the firm’s second-quarter performance. Profit during the period sank 49 percent on a net sales decline of 5 percent.

For the period ended June 30, the company reported profit of $823,311 on net sales of $26.3 million, compared with profit of $1.62 million on net sales of $27.8 million in the same quarter of 2006.

“We are disappointed in our second-quarter performance,” Montgomery said in a statement. “While we are pleased to see our distributor growth strategy take root as evidenced by an increase in our total distributor count, a smaller percentage of the new distributors are joining at the Master Affiliate level when compared to a year ago. This translates into a drop in the average size of initial orders.”

The company said profit margins in the quarter were negatively affected by higher selling, general and administrative expenses.
